![]() ![]() ![]() The kind of purity-tests I see around localizations the past few years are of the exact same mindset that ended up giving us the 7th Gen JRPG Localization Crisis due to JRPGs localizations bombing left and right until the industry collectively decided to stop localizing Japanese games for the rest of the gen. Localization is an extremely expensive process that makes very little to no money in return due to weak niche sales on most games - And that's with most JP to English game localizers being extremely underpaid for their skillset compared to what they'd make doing such translations in other industries. Then pair that with people demanding a second Subtitle track for games that already burnt a ton of money licensing Japanese audio for western release, which effectively amounts to demanding that the game's localization budget be DOUBLED. ![]() When you've seen as many unironic "NO JP AUDIO NO BUY" posts levied against localizations of games that are not cheap to localize at all to begin with as I have, you'll understand my perspective. ![]()
